Marco Fornerone, «Considera l’ippopotamo» (Giob. 40,15).
Marco Fornerone, “Behold now Bəhēmôt” (Job 40, 15). A Method and Exegesis for a “Theology of Animals”
In order to offer an exegetic contribution to the urgent need to change our view of the relationship of the human animal, the non-human animals and the rest of the planet, this article examines the ways to study the mentions of non-human animals in the Hebrew Bible, starting from the case of the ḅəhēmôt in Job 40, 15-24. The exegetic reasons that bring us to identify it with the hippopotamus are studied using archaeozoology, comparing texts and visual archaeology. This confirms the interest of this method of examination and a more detailed comprehension of how, starting from a hippopotamus, the ḅəhēmôt has become a symbol of the chaotic aspects of reality, creating the border between real and mythological fainter.
Franco Chiarini, Ancora sull’innodia metodista in Italia.
Franco Chiarini, The Methodist Hymnody in Italy. Reverend Jones from the Hymn Book to the Tune Book
The article goes over the work of the Methodist minister Thomas Jones, who arrived in Naples in 1863 and was the superintendent of the Wesleyan Method-ist mission in southern Italy for many years. His aim was to create and divulge some collections of communal hymns for the Methodist churches which were being formed. On the basis of some letters sent by Jones to the London Methodist Mission in 1870, it is possible to follow his initiatives to publish first a collection of only texts, and a few years later also the music, for which he availed himself of the collaboration of three musicians: F. Festa, a member of the Neapolitan Methodist church, F. Frabscha and A. Zingaropoli, who were present and active in different ways in the musical life in Naples after the Union of Italy. The Article also outlines the presence of texts and melodies collected by Jones in some evangelical hymn books of the time and his initiatives to put together hymn books addressed not only to the Methodist churches but also to the rest of the Italian Evangelism at the end of the nineteenth century.
Sergio Rostagno, Come agape sia insieme iperbole e normalità
Sergio Rostagno, How Agape canbe a Hyperbole and Normality at the Same Time
Love and Agape: the two words be confused with each other. This Article tries to explain their difference starting from Christology. Two different lines have been outlined in the course of the centuries. This article connects the sense of Agape under both the speculative and the practical aspect. Finally, we examine Paul Ricoeur’s point of view as regards love as something that does not expect to receive anything in change. And we reaffirm the exclusive-inclusive relation-ship between Christology and Agape.
Fulvio Ferrario, Grammatica della speranza cristiana. Nuovi contributi sull’escatologia
Fulvio Ferrario, A Grammar of Christian Hope. New Contributions on Eschatology
The Article, referring to a previous report which appeared in this review (Prot.1/2023, pp. 24-44), examines some recent publications, both Italian and international, regarding Christian Eschatology. Although the articles are of a different kind (a monography, a volume which is the result of a convention, two works with different voices) all highlight some common tendencies: the theme of the imaginary vis-à-vis the eschatological time, which is necessary to outline in coherent terms the grammar of Christian hope.
